The Carvestik: A Longboarding Breakthrough

When you first step on the Carve Stik youll immediately
notice how well-built it feels. Made in the USA with premium
materials, this board is well worth the money paid. It is competitively
priced with most regular longboards and should be
definitely be considered when adding breadth to your quiver.

The engineering on the Stik is first class. The deck is both
concave and firm. The nose and tail are kicked up which optimizes
the turning ability of the trucks and keeps the board low to
the ground. It is easy to assemble and perform maintenance.
It comes with a single Allen key type tool that adjusts the
mounting bolts, wheel nuts and trucks. Its nice to only
have one tool for the whole board.
The trucks are made of aluminium and are very sturdy and industrial
looking. They add weight to the Stik but allow it to pump out
action-packed turns with stability and confidence. The Stik
also features a unique cone shaped wheel to compliment the board.
The Dakone wheels are designed to increase contact area with
the street as you carve. They also seem to smooth out cracks
in sidewalks and decorative paths.

The Stik turns so fast, so easy and so much. It has a great
return-to-center as well but it doesnt ever hinder your
smooth turns. Because of its amazing turning radius, foot positioning
is often critical. It is very easy to get dumped if you have
your feet hanging over the edges. Also if you weigh over 200
lbs, beware of touching a rail down on the ground during a very
tight turn.
It is a joy to ride down large hills. It performed very well
at our regular bombing spot when we got up some
real speed. It was smooth and stable as long as you took control
of it and made sure that you kept carving. The Stik makes it
easy to bleed speed while carving so you can choose your speed
as you go. Remember, its a CarveStik, not a BombStik,
its designed to be turning most of the time. If you bomb
a hill, you may find that sacrifice stability for speed, dont
make your sacrifice too big

The Stik also holds its own around town. Its a
good commuter, however it becomes fairly heavy to push long
distances. The board is low to the ground though, and that takes
away some of the burden of pushing. If it is flat where you
live and you are looking for a get around board,
Id choose something lighter. But for short commutes, it
does very well and performs much better than its cousin,
the Carve Board.

Verdict: The CarveStik is amazing. With most longboards,
based on 70s technology, its nice to see an advancement
like this. This makes a great beginner board because of its
stability, but will only become more fun as you begin to excel
at longboarding. The riding potential with the CarveStik is
limitless.
Its never too late to add this to your board collection.
