Rainskates Tsunami Longboard
Wheels

Rainskates is a company based out of none other than Alaska,
USA. This likely has alot to do with the name "Rainskates".
At any rate, their offerings are no less than stellar, and
the wheels we were given to test were indicitave of their wild
and rugged birthplace (Alaska).
The type of wheel we got to try out is called the "Tsunami",
measuring in at 65mm and 85 A durometer (hardness).
We received the wheels at the tail end of winter, so we were
quite literally riding in the rain for a great deal of the reviewing
period, which was somewhat ironic.
The wheels are primarily made for pool/park boards, and have
a bit of an old-school look and feel about them. The wheels
are hard enough that they provide a great deal of speed on smooth
pavement or concrete, although I didn't notice too much of a
difference in overall "smoothness" as compared to
a standard pair of 78a Kryptonics.
The wheels are almost center-set and have rounded edges, so
that you can rotate/reverse them if need be. They are an all-around
great wheel, and we primarily reccomend them for parks, bowls
and sliding applications.
Here is a breakdown of our reccomendations regarding the Rainskates
Tsunami wheels:
Type of board suited for: Under 40",
pool/bowl deck with kicktail, or your favorite sliding board.
Type of riding style: Vert, Old School,
some Sliding.
Reccomended bearings: Abec 3 or better,
because of the stiffer poly and smaller wheel size.
Overall thoughts: Use as your primary wheels
for your "in between" boards - the ones that aren't
quite "long"boards, and aren't solely for bowlriding
or parks. The wheel is a bit of a hybrid, in a sense.
So what it comes down to is this: they are an
excellent wheel, but should not be treated as a standard "Krypto"
replacement. They represent a happy medium between old-school
92a "trick" wheels, and the jelly-style 78a longboard
smooth-roller.
So if you even have a hint of "old-school" in you,
these are the wheels for you.
